Monsignor Enda Murphy
We offer our heartiest congratulations to Fr Enda Murphy, a priest of the Diocese of Kilmore, on recently being made a Domestic Chaplain to His Holiness, Pope Francis, with the title of Monsignor.
This honour is in recognition of his exceptional work in the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in Rome as Capo Ufficio (Head of Office), not simply because of his excellent work in the field of liturgy and administration, relating well with bishops and episcopal conferences, religious congregations etc., but also in his role of dealing effectively and in a fraternal manner with others for whom he is responsible in his work. It is clearly a sign of Pope Francis’ esteem for him.
Ordained in 2001, Monsignor Murphy is a native of Derrylin, Co Fermanagh. He studied at Queen’s University, Belfast, the Gregorian University in Rome and at the Pontifical Athenaeum of St Anselm in Rome where he received a Doctorate in Liturgy. He also served for a number of years as curate in the parish of Laragh before being appointed as Director of Pastoral Development and Adult Faith Development for the Diocese of Kilmore in 2013. He transferred to the Congregation of Divine Worship & Discipline of the Sacraments (as it was called then) in 2015, becoming Capo Ufficio in September 2021.
We pray God’s continued blessings upon Monsignor Murphy on his ministry and service to the Universal Church.
