The World Day of Prayer for Vocations was celebrated on Sunday 17th April this year, the Fourth Sunday of Easter. The World Day of Prayer for Vocations is also known as Vocations Sunday or Good Shepherd Sunday and the theme this year was ‘Vocations: Witness to the Truth’.
In his message for Vocations Sunday Pope Francis said that: “Vocations are born within the Church,”
Pope Francis writes.
“From the moment a vocation begins to become evident, it is necessary to have an adequate ‘sense’ of the Church” – he continues – “No one is called exclusively for a particular region, or for a group or for an ecclesial movement, but rather for the Church and for the world.”

“I myself was elevated to the Sacramental way-of-life called HOLY ORDERS. This “Sacrament” I had depended on from infancy. Now as Priest, I would ‘make-it-happen’ for all I’d be appointed to serve”.
