The church of Our Lady of Lourdes was built in 1968 replacing the old stone church of St. Brigid, which as built in 1843 by Rev. P. Donegan, PP. The new church, capacity 700, was designed by Messers Philip Shaffrey & Co., Dublin: the contractor was Mr P. J. McLoughlin, Longford and the parish priest was Dr. Felix Canon McCabe. A major refurbishment of the sanctuary was completed in May 2001. The architect was Mr Gerard Fay of Smith & Fay, Newry; the contractors were Maguire Bros., Miltown and the liturgical artist was Mr Fergus Costello, Tipperary.
